This isn’t a sign the company did something wrong. Drywood colonies hide well inside wood, and even a well-executed inspection can miss a pocket of activity that a callback later catches.
Old frass, the pellet-like droppings drywood termites leave behind, doesn’t disappear just because the colony has been treated. Existing pellets from before treatment can still be sitting in a windowsill weeks later. The signal that actually matters is whether new frass keeps accumulating in the same spot, which points to ongoing activity rather than leftover evidence.
Across every method, the same principle holds: new activity in a previously treated area is worth reporting, while old evidence that was already there before treatment is not automatically a failure sign. Most companies build a callback or warranty period into their service specifically because termite treatment isn’t always a single, one-shot fix, and following up on new activity is a normal part of the process rather than an admission that the first visit failed.
